Definitely fearful of implications of your first point and glad you’re pointing out this issue – and don’t have a great solution to combat it, while trying to bring awareness to this problem.
Secondly, it’s advertising or healthy design and I don’t think the two’s objectives are compatible. Either companies increase advertising and decrease health or vice versa. Finally I think that these platforms act as a crutch, where users do not have to learn things such as listening to opposing rhetoric, and responding in an informative matter – their biases are confirmed with how information is tailored to them. Users don’t have to spend time with people that don’t agree with their opinions, because they can easily access people who do. These experiences of discourse add color and parity to our world, that platforms are currently having trouble to maintain
